Discover your strengths

Business Maven! Have you ever found a job posting that felt perfect for you? You can already envision yourself in this new role and then… reality hits and you realize your resume has not been updated in months? Maybe even years!?

Sitting down in front of that computer feels almost suffocating, and definitely overwhelming, when thinking about where to start.

Now, hear me out. Updating your resume is all about setting yourself up for success! It is telling your current self what your future self will go out and become.

The messaging from this single document can be used again and agin throughout the entire process. From interviewing to your LinkedIn profile, the benefits are bountiful. By the end, that resume will feel like your new business bestie.

I have so many tips to get started on building your story, but for today, we are starting with focusing on your strengths! That’s right. Those silly little things that come so natural for you, they must be just as simple for everyone else as well! Wrong. Your strengths are unique to YOU and how you use them in your career.

Coming up with this list is not always so easy, when you are living with these strengths everyday. I mean, a person would think they would be blatantly staring you in the face and screaming, “Look at me!”  For most though, it just feels like a normal day to day life and something that must be easy for everyone else.

What I am about to share with you was a GAME CHANGER for me! This is one of my absolute favorite tools to refer back to when I am updating my resume and envisioning myself in a future role.

Meet the glass half full of psychology, CliftonStrengths. It is an online assessment that focuses on what makes you special and dives into the depth on strengths you naturally have. This tool has my secret sauce in knowing how to be able to describe myself on paper.

It gives you all of those incredible words and ideas on how to start describing what makes you unique and how those strengths have already been utilized in your current career.

If you are feeling lost on where to start. If you are sitting there at a computer frozen with writer’s block. If you want this new job so desperately and just KNOW you are perfect for it, then this is a perfect place to start. Sit down with a clear mind and take the assessment. It will give you all of the inspiration and strong words to start building out your resume!

Even better, these strengths are often times so obvious (after the assessment) that it will be easy to speak to during the interview process as well!

If you are an avid reader like me, then you can purchase [TITLE/LINK] book here and the book will have a code on the back to take the assessment for free. That’s right, FREE!
